A group of eight foster children are among 10 dead after several cars were consumed by fire following a crash.
At least 17 vehicles were involved in the wreck that happened as storm Claudette battered Greenville, Alabama, on Saturday afternoon.
The foster children, aged between four and 17, were from Tallapoosa County Girls Ranch which aims to help abused and neglected children.
Michael Smith, CEO of Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranches, said the children were on their way back from a summer vacation at Gulf Shores when they were caught up in the accident. He added that there were nine people in the mini bus and the only survivor was the ranch director, who is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
