Sabbath Day (Gen.2: 1 – 3 & Ex.20: 8 – 11)—— by r. a.————– Saturday, Jan.23/21
The inauguration of Joe Biden is the reason for this updated-repost. As I was watching the event, I noticed Joe Biden made the sign of the cross over his chest as a priest said a prayer for Biden’s success as president.
Biden made the sign of the cross at the 12min 42sec mark of the inauguration. Catholics think that making the sign of the cross will invoke divine protection and good fortune. However, that is pagan nonsense as you will see in this commentary.
In Messiah’s (Yahshua’s) name: “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. (Matt.16: 24)
Taking up our cross to follow Christ means, simply, “commitment to the point of giving up our hopes, dreams, possessions, even our very life if need be”. In short, the trials, struggles and burdensome tasks in our lives should not deter us from following Christ.
According to various Encyclopedias and other historical writings, many variations of the “cross” were used as pagan religious symbols long before the birth of Christ.
The “tau cross” is one form of the pre-Christian cross. It was so named because it resembled the Greek capital letter “T”. The tau form of the cross had been used as a pagan Egyptian symbol of “life” (the ankh) and then adopted by Christians, called Copts, in Egypt.
Here’s a pic of an Egyptian “tau cross”.
I was born and brought up as a Catholic. There were times I would “cross” myself during certain religious rituals and/or when I was about to embark on some project. Since my conversion many years ago, I no longer make the sign of the cross. It does not ward off evil spirits or protect one from harm – it’s not a biblical behaviour.
Meaning of The Term “Cross In The Bible
The English term “cross” appears 28 times in the New Testament and comes from the Greek word “stauros”, which means “an upright pole or stake”.
Christ was put to death on an upright pole referred to as a “tree” in Acts 5: 30 ; 10: 39 & 13: 29.
Picture Of Cross and Prayer Beads On Bible In Header Top of Page
Notice in the top header pic, both the beads and cross are on the outside of the bible.
The cross and beads represent Catholicism and modern Christianity, while the Bible represents biblical reality. That is, the cross and beads do not square with biblical doctrines. They are on the “outside” of the bible and do not come from “within” same.
Many doctrines of Catholics and traditional Christianity are contrary and opposed to sound biblical teaching, especially concerning the Sabbath, holy days and the singular Creator-God, the great I AM and his true son, Messiah (Yahshua)–the man!
The true followers of Messiah obey and observe the ten commandments, statutes (Holy Days) and judgments of the great I AM. They reject satanic inspired and deceptive teachings spewed out by “the dragon, who has deceived the whole world”. (Rev.12: 9)
If you get the time, below is a vid produced by a female who is an actual descendant of the ancient House of Israel. She presents an in-depth and informative analysis of the “how”, “who”, “when” and “where” regarding the cross.
All glory, praise and honor to the Creator-God, the great I AM, in Messiah’s (Yahshua’s) name.
