BEIT SHEMESH (VINnews) — Israel has been suffering from a nationwide shortage of eggs due to people overbuying in previous weeks. The shortage coupled with the need to maintain social distancing has meant that people waited for hours in long lines to buy eggs.
The Israeli government announced that large shipments will arrive before Pesach but as the following clip taken in Beit Shemesh shows, when eggs do finally arrive, dangerous crowding can occur, which could have dire consequences, especially as most of the people were not wearing face masks which are obligatory in Israel.
Police were alerted to the unusual crowding and dispersed the gathering. They also fined the truck driver 5000 NIS for causing the crowding.
