Day Of Atonement (Annual Sabbath) Posted by r. a. Mon., Sept.28, 2020
Generally, most people believe that the Holy Days and Sabbaths as revealed in the bible are “Jewish”. See below Lev.23: 1 -2
The Annual Holy Day Sabbaths and the weekly Sabbath were given to the true House of Israel which consisted of 12 tribes. They were/are a black-brown people who were scattered all over the earth for breaking the covenant (agreement) they made with the great I AM, the Creator-God.
They will be restored to the land of Palestine – which is presently occupied by impostors – when Messiah’s returns to set up his Kingdom (government) on this earth.
Further, the feast days (Sabbaths) do not belong to the House of Israel. That is, they didn’t compose or make them. The Creator-God, the great I AM, created them as part of his laws and statutes and were given to the true ancient House of Israel, who in turn, would be a “light to all nations” (Isa.49: 6).
Here’s the scriptural proof that the weekly and annual Sabbath feast days belong to the Creator-God. Lev.23: 1 -2
1 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are MY feasts. (Lev.23: 1 -2)
The rest of Leviticus chapter 23 outlines the weekly Sabbath and the seven annual holy day Sabbaths.
The term “atonement” in Hebrew#3722 is the word “Kaphar” and it means to cover, cleanse, pardon, reconcile, forgive etc.
Here’s the statute regarding the Day Of Atonement outlined in Lev. 19: 29 – 31
29 And this (Day of Atonement) shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourns among you:
30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.
31 It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever. (Lev.16: 29 -31)
The Day of Atonement involves “afflicting one’s soul” by means of fasting, from the evening of the 9th day to the evening of the 10th day. In addition, no work is to be done during that time – it’s a Sabbath of complete rest.
Messiah is our High Priest and it is his sacrifice that atones for our sins. By keeping the Day of Atonement, we acknowledging our sins and Messiah’s sacrifice for same.
Hear Hebrews chapter 9 verses 24 -28
24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest enters into the holy place every year with blood of others;
26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
The New Testament is not completely fulfilled, for we await the return of Messiah to setup the Kingdom of God. In the meantime, we are to observe, keep and do his holy day statutes and that includes Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement.
All glory, praise and honor to the Creator-God, the great I AM, in Messiah’s name
