In Messiah’s Name: Jeremiah 17: 5- 8 and Brief Commentary
5 Thus says the Lord (the Creator-God, the great I AM); Cursed be the man that trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm (relies on material and things of the flesh), and whose heart departs (rejects and turns away) from the Lord.
6 For he/she shall be like the heath (a dry scrub) in the desert, and (he/she) shall not see when good comes; but (he/she) shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited (his/her life is like a worthless wasteland — cannot bear good fruit).
7 Blessed is the man/woman that trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord.
8 For he/she shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreads out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat comes (feels no alarm),
but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful (not worried) in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
Brief Commentary
The life of a man/woman who fears and trusts (keeps the commandments of) the Lord (Creator I AM) will always bear good fruit – doing the things that please the Creator and are in harmony with his laws.
Those who rely on their own conceits/humanism will produce nothing of eternal worth (I was once included among them). Most of the world has rejected the laws of the Creator-God and have embraced blatant lies, man-made traditions and ungodly values to their eternal destruction. Woe to the mockers and scorners!
