The nurse who has been at the side of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi for nine years has fled the violence in the country and returned to her native Ukraine.
Galyna Kolotnytska refused to speak after being spotted in her home town today but went shopping in the snow in her designer Dior sunglasses.
However, a passenger who travelled on the same flight to Kiev from Tripoli claimed to have heard her say Gaddafi would triumph against the rebels trying to oust him – and that she would go back when he did.
She allegedly said: ‘Papa is good, Papa is for ever. Gaddafi will win. In a month and a half to two months, we will be going back there.’
Kolotnytska arrived in Kiev early yesterday on a Ukrainian defence ministry aircraft with more than 180 other Ukrainians evacuated from Libya, where her employer is refusing to stand down in the face of democracy protests.
Kolotnytska, said to be 38, was described in U.S. diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks in December as one of Gaddafi’s closest confidantes – who may even have had a romantic relationship with him.
